Connector Details

CN1

HDD activity connector

CN2

HDD fail signal (not used with 3405/3805)

CN5

Fault LED output connector (to front panel)

JC1

I2C connector (not used with 3405/3805)

CN9

Jumper to enqable/disable SGPIO support (should be fitted for 3405/3805)

CN7

Mini-SAS connector (connects to 3405/3805)

Jumper Settings

CN1 – Disk activity connector

Ensure that jumpers are installed between pins 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 as shown at left. This allows the disk drives to control the disk activity LEDs on each carrier.

CN9 – SGPIO control

Ensure a jumper is installed on pins 1-2 to enable SGPIO support.

NOTE: The I2C connector JC1 and fail LED connector CN2 are not used in this configuration.

Disk Carrier LEDs

The Chenbro 4-drive mini-SAS backplane for SR series includes an enclosure processor device which manages the backplane LEDs. The RAID controller communicates with the device on the backplane over dedicated signals within the mini-SAS link cable. Ensure you use a mini-SAS to mini-SAS link cable type (such as the Chenbro 26H113215-012) which connects the sidebands signals.

LED Behavior

In this condition...

The LED will display...

SATA drive activity

LED will illuminate green when the drive is accessed

SAS drive activity

LED will illuminate green when idle and blink off when accessed

Drive fault

  • For SAS drives, LED will be solid amber

  • For SATA drives, LED will be solid red

Identify drive from Adaptec Storage Manager

  • For SAS drives, LED will blink amber

  • For SATA drives, LED will blink red

Adaptec Storage Manager

Adaptec Storage Manager will display each 4-slot mini-SAS backplane as a separate enclosure and will report an Adaptec SGPIO SEP device corresponding to the Chenbro enclosure processor device.
