Please press <Enter> after each selection:

- Insert the SuSE 6.4 bootdisk and power up the server
- Select English in the Language menu
- Select Color Display
- Select English (US) in the keyboard map
- Select Kernel Module
- Select Load SCSI Modules
- Select More Modules
- System will prompt you to insert the module disk. Then insert the disk and press <Enter>
- Select dpt_i2o
- NO parameters need to be added. Just press <Enter> to continue
- System will prompt you "module loaded successfully", then press <Enter> to continue
- Module information will show up, press <Enter> to continue
- Back to previous menu (Start/installation menu)
- Select Start installation / System
- Select Installation / Update
- Select CD-ROM
- Press <Enter> for when you see the information box
- Select Install Linux from scratch
- Select Entire hard disk
- Select Start Installation
- After copying and install the files, will go back to the installation menu
- Select Main Menu
- Select Standard Kernel (Pentium optimized)
- Select Kernel menu
- Select Yes when you see the confirmation box to configure lilo
- Press F4 to create a New Configure
- Use default setting in this dialog box
- Press <Continue>
- Press <Continue> in the confirmation box
- In the Time Zone menu, select your location.
- In the Adjustment of hardware clock menu, select Local Time
- In the Enter Your Hostname menu, enter your Hostname and Domain Name
- In the Network confirmation box, select Loopback only
- Press <Continue> in the confirmation box
- In the Sendmail Configuration menu, select Do not install...
- A output screen of SuSEconfig will shows up, press <Continue>
- Then a message "The base system has been successfully installed. The new installed system will now be started in order to commit the installation"
- System will ask for new password. Enter your new password and verify.
- In the Set up Modem box, answer NO
- In the Set up Mouse box, answer Yes
- Select your Mouse
- In the GPM box, answer Yes
- In the Test GPM box, select Keep
- Press Yes in the confirmation box, then will install the packages
- Press Tab and switch back to the menu
- You will then get the message YaST terminate now.
- Press <Enter> to restart your system.

Updating Drivers on a Running System:

run :
rpm --install DPTDRIVER-1.14-3.rpm
|
|
Installing Storage Manager and SNMP Module:
|
|
run:
rpm --install DPTAPPS-3.03-2.rpm
rpm --install DPTSNMP-3.03-1.rpm
Installation routine will create desktop shortcut for Storage Manager
