FreeBSD 4.1.1 Installation Instructions

Start the installation by booting from the FreeBSD 4.1.1 CD.
Select "Skip kernel configuration and continue with install".
The O/S will then autodetect the Adaptec RAID Controller.
The controller is detected as "Adaptec Caching SCSI Controller".
The O/S then loads the ASR driver.
Then, continue with install of O/S.

Installing Storage Manager

In order to install Storage Manager, it is necessary to install XFree86 Server for X Windows(Gnome or KDE support). This can be done during initial installation of FreeBSD assuming that the drivers are supplied in .tgz format. This command will extract files to tmp directory and will install Storage Manager, as well as the RAID Util, and will provide a shortcut on the desktop to Storage Manager:
pkg_add <filename.tgz>
