A floppy from the full retail version of EZ-SCSI 4.02 or 4.03 is required for the free EZ-SCSI 5.x upgrades.
The upgrade was designed to look for the one floppy from the one floppy and one CD version of the Full (as opposed to Lite) EZ-SCSI 4.02/4.03 that comes with a retail AHA desktop SCSI card kit packaged starting January 1, 1998. Copy the following files from the first two floppies of your four floppy version onto a new blank floppy:
readme.tx_
(from disk 1)
expand.exe
(from disk 2)
ezscsi.inf
(from disk 2)
Then from this new floppy run:
A:\>expand readme.tx_ readme.txt
This floppy will be accepted for verification by the EZ-SCSI 5.x upgrade programs.
To resolve this issue do the following:
I get an error when upgrading EZ-SCSI 4.02 or 4.03 to EZ-SCSI 5.0. It requests to insert the diskette from EZ-SCSI 4.02 or 4.03, but it will not accept any of the four floppies that came with my laptop SCSI card.
The upgrade was designed to look for the floppy diskette that was included on the CD version of the Full (as opposed to Lite) version of EZ-SCSI 4.02/4.03 that came with a retail AHA desktop SCSI card kit.
The work around is to copy the following files from the first two floppies of diskette version into a temp directory on your hard drive
readme.tx_ (from disk 1)
expand.exe (from disk 2)
ezscsi.inf (from disk 2)
Then from a DOS prompt, type the following:
Cd\temp
expand readme.tx_ readme.txt
During the installation of the upgrade, change the path from A: to C:\temp This will allow EZ-SCSI 5.x upgrade programs to install.
