To communicate reliably with the AHA-2940U2W adapter, the peripheral at the end of each cable, or the end of the cable itself, must have a terminator installed or enabled. Any peripherals between the adapter and the end of the cable must have the terminator removed or disabled.

Ultra2 SCSI hard drives do not have built-in termination. Adaptec provides termination of internal Ultra2 SCSI drives through the built-in terminator on the end of the internal Ultra2 SCSI cable provided in the kit.

The product kit contains an internal-to-external 50-pin cable to attach external legacy SCSI peripherals to the Ultra2 SCSI card. When using the internal-to-external Ultra SCSI cable, the external 50-pin connector itself, or the last external peripheral connected to the connector, MUST have a SCSI terminator installed.
