Upgrade Installation Tips

Download the file AAAU2BIOSV42.EXE
Create a DOS bootable floppy
Copy the file to the DOS bootable floppy, extract this file to the floppy.
Insert the Bootable floppy and ensure that boot options for the motherboard are set to floppy.

Instructions for Express Options:

Select Express option.
Note: Detected as AAA-13xB (AIC-7880B).
Updating BIOS.
Warning: DO NOT POWER OFF DURING FLASH!
BIOS Flashed.
Reboot System and continue with installation.

Select Advanced options
Note: Detected as AAA-13xB (AIC-7880B).
Select AAA-13xB.
Select Other Options.
Display Current BIOS Checksum
Note: BIOS is 4.00.15 on AAA-131SA board in this example.
Display New BIOS Checksum
Select the default filename for flash to check.
\BIOS\7880BMx.BIO
Reads the file and displays the BIOS Checksum
BIOS Checksum is 6C00.
Version displayed on board will be 4.20.23.
This will contain the new BIOS v4.20.23 code.
Save Current BIOS to file
Select Save Current BIOS to file.
Enter the file name to save the current BIOS to and press enter.
Note: Do not replace the current file that you wish to flash. The default will over-write the new BIOS
file. If you have not flashed the BIOS yet, you will definitely NOT want to do this. I changed the extension to
old from .BIO.
The current BIOS will be saved as the file name that you have selected.
Select y to continue.
Saving the current BIOS confirmation.
The BIOS image has been saved successfully.
Erase Current BIOS
Select Erase Current BIOS.
Warning! Erasing the BIOS will leave the array adapter unusable until you load a new BIOS. You may want to save
the current BIOS before erasing it.
Do you really want to continue? (y|n)
Select y.
Erasing BIOS. System must not be turned off.
The BIOS has been erased successfully.
Update Array Adapter BIOS
Array Adapter BIOS update requested.
Do you want to continue? (y|n)
Select y.
Please enter the filename of the new BIOS to update and press when done or press now to select
the default file name.
\BIOS\7880BMx.BIO
Select Enter.
The current BIOS will be updated using the file that you have selected.
Select y.
Updating BIOS. System must NOT be turned off.
The BIOS has been updated successfully.
The new BIOS checksum is 6C00. BIOS version upon boot will be v4.20.23
