Intel 'Seattle' SE440BX-2 Motherboards

A compatibility issue has been confirmed between the AHA-2940AU and the Intel 'Seattle' SE440BX-2 motherboard.

There have been reported issues with the SE440BX-2 motherboard and the Adaptec 2940AU SCSI controller. Investigation has found that the Adaptec 2940AU SCSI controller is sensitive to the PCI_RST signal on the SE440BX-2 board although both products are compliant with the PCI 2.1 specification. It has been found that the quality of the PCI_RST signal degrades with certain power supplies and with the choice of PCI slot used for the Adaptec 2940AU SCSI controller.

To resolve this issue do the following:

  1. Use PCI slot 4 (J4B1). PCI slot 4 is the shared ISA/PCI slot
  2. Use a different brand or model of power supply
  3. If your final system configuration includes additional PCI cards, have those installed before trying to integrate the 2940AU.
  4. Use a different motherboard or controller card, such as the Adaptec AHA-2940UW Pro or AHA-2940U2W.
